If fiscally conservative Republicans obtain power both locally and federally, be prepared for the following:
1. Let's cut STUDENT AID FOR STUDENTS WHO AREN'T PRIVILEGED ENOUGH TO HAVE MILLIONAIRES AS PARENTS - Romney recommended students "borrow money if you have to from your parents" and "shop around" when asked how he would make college more affordable - http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/08/president-obama-pivots-attacks-to-mitt-romney-paul-ryan-education-plan/
2. Let's cut ANNUAL LEAVE SHARING for GovGuam employees - http://www.guampdn.com/article/20120911/NEWS01/120911008
3. Let's remove special pay for FIREFIGHTERS - http://www.kuam.com/story/19337771/2012/08/22/tenorio-more-cuts-need-to-be-made
Let us all keep in mind that these are the exact same people who strongly oppose increases to the minimum wage BOTH nationally and locally while at the same time eliminating taxes for the very wealthy. Their explanation for reducing taxes for the super rich = TO HELP PROVIDE INCENTIVES FOR BUSINESS OWNERS TO HIRE MORE PEOPLE. For EIGHT YEARS ON GUAM, we had a Republican governor and for several of those years we had a Republican legislature...YET BUSINESSES WEREN'T HIRING. For EIGHT YEARS we had a Republican President and for several of those years we had a Republican Congress. Tax cuts were passed for the super wealthy..YET BUSINESSES AREN'T HIRING.
Fiscal conservatives complain that too many people are on welfare and that they should get a job. Okay, WHERE ARE THEY GOING TO GET A JOB WHEN THE VERY SAME PEOPLE YOU FIGHT FOR AREN'T HIRING?
Republicans, how about you try doing the following =
1. REQUIRE THAT LOCAL BUSINESSES AND COMPANIES HIRE LOCALLY and if they can't fill the position(s), CERTIFY UNDER OATH that they can't.
2. REMOVE BUSINESS INCENTIVES FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES WHO DO NOT HIRE LOCALLY.
3. SUPPORT AN INCREASE IN THE MINIMUM WAGE TO HELP OFFSET THE HIGH COSTS OF FOOD AND GAS THAT your fellow business people SET THE PRICE ON.
4. SUPPORT A SMALL INCREASE IN TAXES FOR HIGHER INCOME INDIVIDUALS.
It always amazes me to hear that Republicans want to cut everything - the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Department of Labor, welfare on Guam, Medicare and Medicaid...YET THEY WANT TO THROW MORE MONEY AT THEIR FELLOW RICH PEOPLE..
Hey fiscal Republicans, how about supporting the REAL PEOPLE before you start helping those who clearly DON'T NEED IT
